Alan’s personal motto as he teaches is: “To teach, to inspire, to share the miracle.” After spending 28 years in the military and law enforcement, an out-of-balance “yang life” caught up to Alan and sidelined him for a period of time with a variety of health issues. After his second spinal surgery in two years, he turned to yoga to recover and heal. A friend, Yin Yoga teacher, and now mentor (Jaylene Weaver) talked to him about the benefits of all styles of yoga, particularly Yin, as a means to speed up his recovery. Alan followed this advice and his life was forever changed. Alan describes his recovery and improvements in his physical condition as, “nothing short of a miracle.” Alan has received advanced training in sound healing, 'Yoga for Recovery,' and Restorative Yoga where he studied under internationally renowned instructor Judith hanson Lasater. Alan is also a certified Reiki practitioner. Alan loves most of all spending time with his wife, Kris, three grown kids, grandson, and slightly crazy Yorkshire terrier. He volunteers as a driver for the San Clemente Meals on Wheels program and loves playing the didgeridoo and other ancient healing instruments.
